Double Boost for Sandhaven Harbour
September 2002 saw a double boost as both Aberdeenshire Council and The Wood Group donated £1000 each to the work of the Trust at the Harbour. Many thanks to Cllr Mitchell Burnett for his continued support and encouragement.

Harbour Fun Day 2002
Sandhaven Harbour was the place to be on Sunday August 25th 2002. With something to do for everyone, and large crowds turning out, it proved to be a great success. Appearing for the first time this year was the Tarlair Model boat club, who entertained the crowd with both a static display, and model boats sailing in the Harbour. The Friends of the Moray Firth dolphins were also on hand with an educational video, and promotional materials. The Raft Race was a keenly fought occasion, with much splashing, and the usual friendly competition. The decorated bicycles event saw many youngsters using their imagination and the first prize of a meal for two at the Wimpy was a great incentive. Everyone in attendance enjoyed themselves and at the end of the day were looking forward to the next Harbour Day.

Lord Clinton gives support to the work of the Trust
In 1935 the then Lord Clinton closed down Sandhaven Harbour after 100 years of commercial activity. In 2002 the present Lord Clinton delighted the Trust with a generous contribution to their work. We are grateful to receive this token of his support and continued interest in the renovation of Sandhaven Harbour.
Trust benefits from Bell’s Nautical Trust
The Trust was gratified to announce a large grant from a long established and respected organisation. Bell’s Nautical Trust was established by Dr. Bell, who was a famous educationalist of the 19th century, known for his work in India. The Trust has a keen interest in supporting nautical training and educational efforts. Due to the close cooperation between the Trust and Fraserburgh Sea Cadets, Bell’s Nautical Trust made a considerable donation toward the Slipway fund at Sandhaven Harbour.

Trust helped by Moray Firth Partnership
The MFP, a partnership of several funders, who are interested in environmental matters within the Moray Firth area, awarded a substantial grant for the Slipway Fund, and allowed the Trust to have a professional engineering survey carried out by Arch Henderson.
Oil companies support the work at Sandhaven Harbour
MOBIL North Sea Ltd and Petro Canada responded generously to an appeal for sponsorship from the Trust in 2002. They are both well known for their keen interest in support for local communities and we are happy to receive their support.
Local Firms Aid the Trust
The Trust greatly appreciates the contributions of local companies such as Taylor Manufacturing Ltd, and WR Stephen, of Fraserburgh.
Banff and Buchan College Students go the extra mile for the Harbour Trust
June 2001
Students from our local college walked from Fraserburgh out to the village of Pennan and back again a round trip of some 24 miles to raise money for us. As part of their course they had to think up, plan and carry out a charity event. We're very grateful that they chose us. Kris, Alwyn, George, Joanna, who were the organisers, and Mark along with lecturer Linda, made the walk on May 8th. Their class lecturer Jan Lawrie was delighted with their efforts and they raised the wonderful sum of £500.20

New Boat Launched at Sandhaven
Autumn 2000
The new GRP boat "Osprey" FR 936 launched late in the year 2000 from the Forbes boatyard at Sandhaven is another confirmation of the progress and viability of Sandhaven Harbour as a going concern.

Harbour Headlines
Since buying the Harbour in August 2000 the Trust has accomplished much "behind the scenes" work. Highlights have included the publishing of our newspaper "The Harbour News", and successful fund raising and PR events such as Quiz Nights, Stovies Evenings, and the Christmas Fair.
On February 1st 2001 we received a visit from Halcrow Fox who had previously carried out work at Sandhaven Harbour in 1997, 1998,and 2000. They are the engineers commissioned to produce an economic and financial appraisal report. They came to look mainly at the work necessary to bring the West Harbour up to health and safety standards and the changes necessary to allow the Harbour to be used commercially.
Work on the business plan which is to serve as a key attraction to funders continues. It has evolved over the months to reflect the importance of the interests of the larger local community. The potential of this plan can be seen from the success in attracting enquiries from companies and local organisations, such as the Sea Cadets.
